The son was a noted astronomer (Fellow of the Royal Society, 1841; President, 1854-1858) who has a minor planet named after him (!); there's no clear evidence of his having been an MP. In this case, the second wife (Bennett née Conyers) as stated in Stenton may have been the son's wife?
